Looking for Moderators - Apply Here

The forum is growing fast and I need help keeping things organized. Looking for 2-3 community moderators to help manage the board.

What moderators do here

  • Review new posts and make sure they follow community guidelines
  • Move topics to the right categories when they end up in the wrong place
  • Help new users get oriented (answer questions, point them to the right threads)
  • Flag and remove actual spam, doxxing, or content that could put people at risk
  • Keep discussions evidence-based and on track

What I’m looking for

  • Active on the forum already - you’ve posted, replied, or shown you’re engaged
  • Good judgment - this topic is sensitive and politically charged. Moderators need to stay neutral and focus on evidence, not partisan takes
  • Familiar with the case - you don’t need to be an expert, but you should understand why sourcing matters and what makes a credible lead vs speculation
  • Available regularly - doesn’t have to be all day, but checking in at least once a day to clear the queue
  • Thick skin - you will get pushback. This is the internet and the subject matter attracts strong opinions

What you get

  • Moderator badge and permissions
  • Direct line to me for site issues and decisions
  • Input on forum direction, new categories, and community policies
  • My genuine gratitude - I’m one person running all of this and the help would mean a lot

How to apply

Reply to this thread with:

  1. A bit about your background (doesn’t have to be detailed, privacy matters here)
  2. Why you want to help moderate
  3. Any relevant experience (moderated other forums, research background, etc)
  4. How often you’d realistically be able to check in

I’ll reach out via DM to people who seem like a good fit. No hard feelings if it doesn’t work out - the fact that you’re here and contributing already means a lot.

Thanks everyone.

Hiya… I want to help but not sure if I’m exactly who you are looking for. Offering my services in case you don’t get enough suitable candidates

  1. AuDHD (iykyk), true crime nerd, professional experience include project managing a number of website developments, functional and user testing, writing technical & user docs (not my fave activity, if I’m being honest), user training, service desk, incident & problem management etc. Unfortunately I’m not a developer, though I think in categories and databases and can parse some code when I need to troubleshoot.
  2. You’ve created an incredibly valuable and great quality tool out of the goodness of your heart and I don’t want to see you slogging it alone. I like helping and want to do my part for this community, to figure out as much as we can from the Epstein files to hopefully drive future prosecution and education. I also passionately hate pedophiles, abusers and bigots.
  3. Other than the IT stuff listed above, my former education is in scientific research. It taught me how to be pedantically methodical, value primary sources, write citations in my sleep, evaluate hypotheses critically and be aware of logical fallacies that can create biases in the results.
  4. Minimum of once every 2-3 days, though likely more often. Due to health and family reasons I can’t afford to burn out, so I want to set realistic expectations. I am a considerate and honest person, so I’ll let you know asap if I need to tap out momentarily or for longer periods of time. But I intend to assist as much as I can when I can.

Regardless of your decision I will still be contributing to the site and forum as a member as much as possible, because I do believe in the value of the amazing tools that you’ve built and what we can uncover together as a community.

Happy for you to PM me with any questions etc. :victory_hand:

Thanks for applying. Your posts across the forum have been consistently high quality, and the scientific research + project management background is a great fit for what we need here. Shooting you a DM with details.

I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to put my hand up, but if you still need mods, I’m here and willing!

  1. As mentioned in my boards intro, I’m in Financial Crime/Anti-money laundering. But that’s just my current career. Naturally, I’m really good with numbers and I’m always finding the fastest route to wherever I’m going. Personally, I’m a DINK (iykyk) so compared to many adults, I probably have “more time to spare”.
  2. I want to help where you need me. Moderating, data cleanup, data organization, communication, etc. I’m here.
  3. I do not have experience moderating. At least not since the late 90s when I was on The Palace and had to kick pervs out of my chatrooms. Beyond financial crimes, I’m a program manager so I’m used to organizing/coordinating large scale, high impacting initiatives that require a lot of careful considerations. I work in Fintech which is highly regulated so decision making and critical thinking are paramount.
  4. Daily with a few occasional exceptions. You can probably check my logs, but I’ve been here pretty consistently as of late.

Welcome aboard, Kristen. Financial crime and AML experience is exactly the kind of expertise we need, especially given how much of the Epstein case comes down to following the money through Deutsche Bank, JPMorgan, and dozens of shell entities. The program management and fintech regulatory background is a great complement to what we already have on the team.

Daily availability and late-90s chatroom moderation experience tells me you know how online communities actually work, not just in theory.

Granting you moderator access now. You will see the mod tools appear shortly. If you have any questions about how things are set up or want to dig into a specific area first, just let me know.
